A GARUDA Indonesia Airbus 330-200 aircraft has been stranded at Amsterdam's Schiphol airport after being hit by a cargo truck on September 2.
The accident damaged the cargo door of the Jakarta-bound plane.
Garuda vice president corporate secretary Pujobroto said it needed three to four days to repair the damage, pending spare parts from the Airbus factory. At press time, the airline was still waiting for updates from its Amsterdam office.
Pujobroto said: “We took responsibility for the passengers and moved them to other airlines. While the aircraft is being repaired, we are using A330-200s which serve other destinations to maintain the quality of service. Consequently, we would need to substitute aircraft for some destinations, such as Jakarta-Sydney and Jakarta-Melbourne, with Boeing 747-400s.” |
