SAHID Group's Indonesian Paradise Island will pump in US$70 million to transform the former Hotel Sahid Raya Kuta into Sahid Kuta Lifestyle Resort and develop a lifestyle hub called Beachwalk around it.
Beachwalk, which will have almost 200 retail stores and eateries, a children's playground, an alfresco dining deck and a stage for performances, will also include the development of a five-star 200-room Sheraton Bali Kuta Resort. The resort will have ballroom and meeting facilities to complement the existing four-star HARRIS Resort Kuta-Bali.
The developer will work with the local government to rebuild pedestrian areas, plant greenery and create water fountains and ponds in the area.
In addition, Sahid Kuta Lifestyle Resort will have eco-friendly features, such as open-air walkways, and will utilise locally-sourced materials and recycled hardwood.
Indonesian Paradise Island president director Hariyadi Sukamdani said: "We're trying to bring drama and excitement to visitors who want to escape the hustle and bustle of Kuta. (Beachwalk is) where they can relax, shop and feel at ease after a long day. At the same time, we don't want to build something of this scale without (considering) the impact on the area and environment."
